What exactly is a Blog?  Learn what a blog is and how you can create your own blog that can start making you money today!  I share the easy steps to setting up a blog and share what tools I used to grow and learn how to blog.

WHAT IS A BLOG

One of the most common questions I get is What is a Blog?  A blog is by definition a “weblog.”  The term has been shortened to the term most people refer to as a Blog.

Blogs are online informational journals.  The blogger is YOU, the person who owns the site and writes the content in the blog.

The information in a blog is generally shown in reverse chronological order. What that means is each post that’s shown on a web page appears with the most recent post showing first.

A blog can be created by one person, a group of writers, or a ghost writer who provides content for the website.

CAN YOU MAKE MONEY BLOGGING?

The answer to that questions is YES!  You can absolutely make money blogging.  There are a lot of people making $12,000 – $20,000 or MORE on a monthly basis.  The amount of money you make blogging totally depends on the effort you put into it.

Blogging is a real business.  It’s not a pyramid scheme and it’s not a get rich quick scheme.

HOW DO YOU START A BLOG?

Starting a blog is easy.  You can start a blog in about twenty minutes.

Here are some of the steps:

1. Decide on your niche. What are you passionate about? How can you help someone who reads your blog?
2. Pick a blog name. The name of your blog can be just about anything that you want.  The name can point to what your blog is about or it can be something that is meaningful to you.
3. Register your blog’s domain name.
4. Chose a hosting company for your blog. I use Bluehost because they have a great support team and walked me through the entire process of setting up my blog.
5. Customize your blog to reflect your personality.
6. Write content for your blog and start creating posts.
7. Make money by promoting your blog and collaborating with others.

The steps above are of course the shortened version about how to start a blog.

Much like you, I was trying to find a way to make a little extra money.  My goal was to make enough money to help me have more time with my family.

I got super excited when I found the Free 5-Day Crash Course on blogging.  It was totally free and it honestly gave me a solid foundation to start my own blog.

I decided why wait any longer.  I knew I didn’t want to sell products where your friends are hiding from you because they think you’re going to ask them to buy something.

HOW TO MAKE MONEY BLOGGING

So, I bet you want to know how you make money blogging.

There are many ways to make money as a blogger. 

Some of the ways you can make money as a blogger are:

• Freelance writing content for other websites, social media or companies.
• Affiliate marketing for companies such as Amazon. (Commission is paid if some buys via your link)
• Sponsored posts. (Brands pay YOU to blog about them and highlight their businesses)
• Sales from eBooks or courses.
• Advertising (like Google Adsense and popup ads)

A combination of money coming in from all these different sources because of your blog can generate an overall income which can easily be in the thousands of dollars.
